Temporary closure of Portsmouth Central Masjid to the public due to coronavirus pandemic

Temporary closure of Portsmouth Central Masjid to the public due to coronavirus pandemic

20 March 2020 – Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings on His final messenger, Muhammad ﷺ. We ask Allah to grant us patience, to strengthen our reliance on Him, and to increase us in our faith and good deeds.

In line with the most recent advice from the Government, from medical professionals in our community, and after very careful consideration by our Imams in consultation and other Mosques and centres, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend public access to the Portsmouth Central Masjid, including for all prayers and Jumu'ah (Friday prayer), beginning 20 March 2020 after Jumu'ah prayer. We will continue to broadcast the adhan, insha’Allah.

We will keep the situation under constant review, and ensure our congregation is informed of any changes through our website and radio announcement, insha’Allah. May Allah help us all in this time of trial; we should turn to Him in increased devotion through prayer, dua and reading the Qur’an.
